Picture

In 1928, 12 years before her stand on the bus Rosa tried to register to vote, and was denied. In little ways she would argue her points as an American Citizen and should have her Cilvil Rights, so she became a secretary for the NAACP. In 1945, after this and her legal fights, she was given a cirtificate to vote finally. In 1949 Rosa and her husband Raymond worked with the Montgomery branch of the National Association for the NAACP programs. Rosa Parks acted as a secretary and a youth leader. In 1955, May 31st the U.S Supreme Court ordered desegregation of public schools because of the things Rosa Parks was involved in. It was December 1ts when Rosa was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama for refusing to get out of her seat for a white man when told to move. She was fingerprinted, jailed for a day, and her bail was set to $14 dollars. On December 5th when Martin Luther king became president of the Montgomery Improvement Association he developed a protest that was due to the Rosa Parks incident, which then started the bus boycott for 381 days. When the bus boycott started Rosa Parks got fired from her job as a seamstress, and she moved to detriot in 1957 with her husband. Rosa returned to Montgomery after Martin Luther got stabbed by a lady at a book signing.
Rosa Parks then helped a friend open up a sewing factory on the west-side of Dertriot in 1961, and then she attended Martin Luthers "I have a dream" speech and march April 3rd, 1963. That same year on August 28th Rosa spoke at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and she attended the Salem march in Montgomery for voting rights on March 7th, 1965. In August 11th-12th Rosa began working for a Congressman John Conyers 1st District of Michigan in Detriot.
After Matrin Luthers death Rosa received the NAACP's Spingar Medal, and in 1980 the Detroit Public Schools and News established the Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation in honor of the 25th anniversary of her stand in Montgomery. In 1987 Rosa and her husband founded her own Institute for Self Deployment with a goodfriend Elaine who offered Guidance to young blacks. After retiring from John Conyer's office she published her first book, "Rosa Parks, My Story", in 1992. In the year 2000 The Rosa Parks Museum and Library at Troy State University of Montgomery, where she was arrested. During 2001 Rosa was on a lot of different T.V. shows such as "Touched By An Angel". Her book soon became a movie called, "The Rosa Parks Story". Rosa was honored with the International Institute Heritage Hall of Fame Award for all the things she has done.
Rosa Parks did many things the help the advancement of the Civil Rights Movement. One of the big things that she did was help the start the Montgomery Bus Boycott on December 1st, 1955, by not moving out of her seat when she was asked. Rosa Parks was arrested and taken from the bus when she refused to move. People heard about what had happened to her and wanted to help, they did not agree that just because a white person wanted to sit down that she needed to move. Many thought that Rosa did not move simply beacaue she was tired after a long day of working but it was not, she was standing up for herself.
Rosa is remember for not only starting the Montgomery Bus Boycott but for the many other things she did to help the advancements of colored people.
